0096. Pink Skull

Pink Skull by Lacey aka Lacey

Originally titled "girls like skulls, too." From the original Threadless design post:
I did in full-color watercolor, scanned it in and monotoned it in p-shop. It is a one-color image for the tshirt design.
From the artist's website:
Possible tshirt designs. Too friendly? Too messy? Too metal?

I made the heart painting really messy with a...toothbrush! Yes, I've moved on from natural and synthetic brushes and have instead chosen to paint with a toothbrush. Don't worry, it's not mine or my roommates'...it is a special pink "painting toothbrush."

Eagle by IMYJ aka Imyj

The current imyj.com is a spam site, or just a very boring blog, but Internet Archive has some historic pages, if you like to dig around.

I'm not sure if this was a Dreamless design, but it seems fitting for the early days of Threadless, from what I've seen.

Stir It Up by 345
[T]o me it's not about eating at all! it's all about stirring, maybe even causing a commotion. people are loading trash into their brains with watching TV, living a consumer-zombie life, and maybe we can do something about that, wake them up.

On a personal level: keep on moving, work on it, dig deeper, ask difficult questions, maybe find something in there you can't deal with yourself, then go talk to somebody about it, get some therapy maybe, but don't let bad stuff just sit there to rust and influence your life negatively.
This description is from a Threadless "blog" about the design.

Wow, I am so glad this tee-shirt was printed, because I never in a million years could've gone to someone else's website and download someone else's Photoshop brushes and then just slap them all over a tee-shirt with some generic shield symbol behind it. I mean, really, how long did it take to d othis shirt? Like a whole 5 minutes? I wonder what this site would look like if it had real designers making real designs? Gee, I don't know, maybe, a lot better!
I'm not sure if this comment was from the artist himself, or a weird mis-association error by Threadless. Either way, it's rather true in terms of generic designs. Misprinted Type still exists, and still has free brushes.

Most likely a vectorization of this image, which lead to a rousing discussion on the original submission page. Other fun notes: the tattoo on her neck changed from the original submission to the final printing.
